(High-Collectible) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) This large room-sized carpet is really a phenomenal Serapi folk-art version of medallion formats one might expect from more populous city weaving centers. A colossal jewel-shaped medallion in a golden camel-hued ground hosts an exuberant assortment of botanical stylizations surrounding the inky blue centerpiece. Being juxtaposed to a spacious, unadorned reserve allows every motif to become fully realized in a celebrative folkloric display. Infused with exquisitely fine gradations of controlled yet tremendously expressive abrash, the richly dyed color palette graces the backgrounds and shapes with a thinly striated texture, amplifying every hue to its maximum potential. A spacious rosette and oak leaf border pattern dance with tiny mosaic-like blossoms throughout the playful matrix on a rare ivory ground. This piece is further enhanced by its exquisite weave and remarkably well-preserved condition.
