(High-Decorative)
("New Arrivals Gallery") In the latter part of the 19th century, the Ziegler company from Germany invested in building many looms in the newly minted garrison town of Arak, a stone’s throw from the renowned Ferahan weaving area. Using incredibly silky wool imported from Manchester, England, this famous, innovative style fostered a syncretic, more sophisticated artistic expression than traditional Sultanabad Persian carpets up to that point. The workshops that sprang up wisely took inspiration from the wealth of local village weaving traditions and the re-invented Court designs from the Ferahan region to create this new style. In this beautiful, finely woven room-size example, illuminated flowerheads, eccentric palmettes, and feathery garlands bloom along arabesque vinery. This style is beloved for its exquisite color-combining, exemplified here by a plethora of exotic hues that dance upon the glowing sunset carnelian red reserve. A gently textured abrash, superb wool quality, and extremely good pile condition contribute to this carpet's timelessness, as it translates easily into a traditional or modern-contemporary setting.
