(High-Collectible-Plus) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) Bakshaish village weavers were masterful visionaries of powerful minimalist patterning, as well as dramatic use of camelhair and ancient tribal totemic designs. This exemplary large room size Camelhair folk-art carpet features a medallion supporting cruciform pendant structures, illuminated by the extraordinary potency of an open field of glowing blonde camelhair. The lambent Maya blue centerpiece and its botanical contents are defended by rampart-like “walls” as if viewed from above. Four fiery carnelian red corner spandrels exhibit camelhair windows joined by latch-hooked ‘Wheels of Life’ and totally cubist floating blossoms to complete this Bakshaish field design. The subtle earth tones in the color palette are brilliantly juxtaposed with skillfully brewed natural dyes, creating the right amount of contrast and harmony.
