(High-Collectible-Plus) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) Discerning Persian carpet connoisseurs relish the incomparable folkloric artistry and decorative impact of the finest Bakshaish weavings. The best examples, such as this virtuoso room size, exhibit truly original patterns coupled with a richness and maturity of color obtained using exquisite natural dyes that mature over time. Bakshaishs of this magnitude transcend the mere decorative or utilitarian to become truly one-in-the-world art objects. A golden centerpiece is layered over a glowing terra cotta outer medallion displaying lyrically stylized floral motifs. The elaborate indigo surround features a scrolling and serrated edge with four massive ancient boteh sprouting seeds that appear to be flexing their brawny nature. Each contains a flower that has yet to emerge upon the clear ivory field. The main border’s cornflower blue and azure base tones heighten the juxtaposition between the aqueous background and the exquisitely eccentric “floating” flora.
