Woven in a much-desired, extremely versatile small room size, this antique Persian Bakshaish demonstrates the masterful use of color to create the fascinating play of hues displayed in this understated work of art. The unusual golden wheat of the field coupled with the deep teal greens, radiant sapphire and terra cotta fill the clear, rhythmic allover Herati design with continuous subtle nuances. In even this most traditional of Persian rug designs, the renowned Bakshaish spontaneity is delightfully on view. It is also unusually finely knotted for a 19th century Bakshaish carpet.
