BIJAR (Bidjar) CAMELHAIR RUNNER, Northwest Persian
3' 10" x 9' 6"
Late 19th Century
(Connoisseur-Caliber) Magical in its folkloric, spontaneous artistry, this intensely animated 19th century Bijar (Bidjar) Camelhair runner is a truly one-of-a-kind village Persian carpet. Each of its diamond camel reserves is unique; holding a completely different arrangement of simple blossoms and tiny animal forms, with entirely inventive abstracted tree motifs appearing only in its third section. These elements masterfully counterbalanced by the dramatic, off-center placement of a single horizontal stripe of rare Tyrian purple. The use of half–obscured latch hook diamonds along the sides of the field continue the kaleidoscopic use of color and abrash. Offering heavy pile condition at over a century of age, this entrancing Persian Bijar runner is strongly collectible. Learn About This Rug Type
