("New Arrivals Gallery") An entrancing ivory field exhibits an extremely clearly expressed and attractive Herati design — beloved across all antique Persian rug genres. Here, the curling feather-like leaves, fiery palmettes, and highly detailed flowerheads support the fantastic rhythm of the pattern, which also touches on a kaleidoscopic effect. Subliminal variations in the shape of every element convey a subtle sense of movement. One can imagine a gentle rustling in the breeze from this botanical feast for the eyes. Each motif has been carefully highlighted and shaded by expert weavers, skillfully accentuating every line and curvature with warm and cool colors. This painstakingly woven, 125-year-old carpet remains in heavier pile condition.
