("New Arrivals Gallery") Seldom encountered, high-level 19th-century Dorasht (or Doroksh) rugs such as this extraordinary botanical piece are of the lineage of Persian Court workshops of the Safavid period. Wholly original in its design and palette, this very accomplished piece recalls the crystalline drawing and elaborate floral depiction of the 16th century "First Golden Age of Persian Weaving." Within the well-proportioned, light-toned reserve, spaciously swirling tendrils with exquisite overscale blossoms create an exquisite, enthralling garden theme, unlike any other rug style that has treated this beloved idea. The tiny script at the top of the field reads, "Mobaarak Baad" ("Congratulations") The color palette is truly one-of-a-kind, reflecting precision in dyeing rare warm earth shades and an abundance of saffron golds. It remains in wonderful condition.
