4' 2" x 6' 3" (127 x 190cm) — 3rd Qtr., 19th C.

(Connoisseur-Caliber) An extraordinarily finely woven, crystal-clear design give this exquisite geometricized Ferahan rug a prodigiously refined appeal. The ornately decorated, madder red shield-shaped medallion features a narrow border edging enlivened with delicately drawn latch hook and stepped vinery, adding a defined strength restrained by finesse. Cordoning the ivory reserve underneath the medallion is a deep indigo frame, further enhancing the piece’s bold appearance. Beneath the hexagonal shield is a brick red background given an animated dimension by a gorgeous abrash (artistic color striation) that runs flush against the interior border.
