(Connoisseur-Caliber)
With its elegantly understated, yet incredibly innovative design perfectly expressed, this superb nearly 150-year-old city rug from the renowned classical carpet designer, Hadji Jallili, demonstrates an affinity for harmonious, surprisingly nuanced natural earth hues and a masterful sense of compositional balance. Within an artfully scalloped, rippled sand-toned reserve, a delicately baroque medallion offers a captivating combination of luminous sapphire blue and mahogany tones. An abundance of individually rendered botanical flourishes, including scrolling fronds and blossoming vinery, fills the ample cornerpieces with meticulous detail. An intricate rosette and unusual-to-see paired boteh (Seed of Life) pattern fill the main border., Daringly evocative horizontal abrash striation in the top imparts tremendous animation and individuality that defines the entire composition.
