(High-Collectible)
A wondrous work of paradisical art doubling as a small room-size carpet, this copper and citrine-toned Garden of Paradise is the epitome of elegance, visually and tactility. Envisioned by 19th-century master designer Hadji Jallili of Tabriz, it portrays the dynamic profusion of nature, burgeoning flowers, palmettes, and golden leaves proceeding from an oversized pedestal vase. Pairs of perched birds inhabit the lithe, sinuous branches, while flame-like fronds contribute to the arboreal verdure. Changing perspective, undersized cypresses and cotton-ball-shaped trees shade prominent partridges standing tall and agile goats cavorting in the background. Chromatically and pictorially lush, this one-of-a-kind formal carpet demonstrates an extremely seldom-found aesthetic and technical virtuosity that, unfortunately, has been lost over time. Its remarkable state of preservation adds to its tremendous allure.
