(High-Collectible) ("New Arrivals Gallery") One of our most exciting new arrivals is this first-quality oversize piece from the workshop of the luminary carpet designer, Hadji Jallili, of the Persian city of Tabriz. This extraordinarily finely crafted carpet offers an exquisitely understated coloration, unusually generous width and excellent, heavier pile condition at nearly 150 years of age. Rather than the more commonly seen predominant medallion or all-over format, this carpet displays a concentric series of extremely subtle hexagonal medallions with gently lobed edges. An inconceivably finely rendered “Herati” (repeating diamond and leaf pattern) washes over the rug’s medallions, field and spandrels, enhancing the carpet’s atmosphere of quiet, celestial splendor. Its virtuoso main border features an extended series of cartouche forms, each of which is individual in its exact shape, size and hue. Learn About This Rug Type
