(Connoisseur-Caliber)
("New Arrivals Gallery") Exuding tremendous harmony and balance, this carpet’s superlative craftsmanship and artistic intuition are revealed in tremendous eloquence of line and exquisite layering of fluid botanical motifs. A 19th-century version of the 16th-century “cloud collar” inspired medallion is the majestic centerpiece of this distinguished work from the master designer, Hadji Jallili. Its courtly visage is sublimely balanced with Shah’s crown pendants and the organic appendages that introduce stylized cypress trees drifting above within an ornate, architecturally contoured parchment reserve. Rococco ornamented corner spandrels are juxtaposed with wonderful maximalism in relation to the unadorned field. Painstaking precision of the symmetrical pattern is melded with spontaneous individual flourishes is revealed to the studious observer. Eye-pleasing motifs are amplified by a sophisticated palette of burnt copper, nutmeg, brass tones, steely blue, and traces of paled rose. Each is exhibited in a range of shades in subtle gradients of color that do not fail to elicit admiration. Closely cropped heavier pile boosts the clarity of the designs with its luster boosted by a gentle patina.
