(Connoisseur-Caliber)
This incredibly graphic pattern of ultra stylized boteh (ancient "Seed of Life" motifs) is well-loved by the weaving artists of the Khamseh tribal confederation. The color juxtapositions of their totemic interiors are never repeated. Interstitially placed between each monolithic boteh is another favored motif the ‘murghi’ or ‘wild chicken’ steadfastly pecks at the ground in a courteous pose. Unusual to see surrounding the murghi are fanciful felines, tiny boteh, and other totemic fauna. Many more intriguing discoveries abound. Subtle nuances of hue within the diverse color palette astonish, as buoyant azures and vivid burgundy interplay with jades and saffrons in harmonious polyphony. Its sprightly border displays a sequence of festive flora that creates a sense of animation in the pattern. Not only is this electrifying rug in remarkable condition with very good pile overall, but most of the original flatwoven kilim ends remain.
