(Connoisseur-Caliber)
Offering the uncommonly robust construction for which the Bijar style is well known, the 19th-century weavers of this superb runner would often demonstrate their consummately innovative craftsmanship through the use of integrated motifs from other visual traditions, such as those from Serab in this exquisitely synergistic example. The potent juxtaposition of strong borders with the spaciousness and delicacy of the field motifs, united by their luminous colors, results in tremendous uniqueness of design. Seven axial medallions bejeweled with and linked by sprouting boteh manifest a stepping stone-like path along the blonde camel ground, where additional seeds and flowering sprigs pop up like visual oases of life amidst the desert landscape. This striking piece happily still offers remarkable condition, delightfully with higher pile and a heavy foundation, heightening the practical allure of this memorable runner.
