LAVER KIRMAN, Southeast Persian
11' 0" x 16' 0"
Late 19th Century
(Connoisseur-Caliber) This exquisite, superbly crafted oversize carpet was made at the height of “The Second Golden Age of Persian Weaving” in the Kirman region. This was an area of great wealth, whose workshops retained the finest carpet designers, dye masters and weavers; all of whom were fabulously skilled artisans who accomplished unfathomably densely ornamented, classically inspired botanical patterns. The result here is an oversize carpet woven not only with an extremely high knot count and sharply delineated motifs, but with dyes of tremendous variety and great potency. This can be vividly seen in its periwinkle blue, Renaissance red, gold and apricot tones, as well as in its well- integrated array of secondary hues. Learn About This Rug Type
