The design has been thoroughly grounded in Persian architecture with realistic archways behind which grows a phantasmagorical Tree of Life and attending prolific vinery. The columns are of particular focus because it is their diagonally striped pillars that dramatically sets off the astonishing, heavy laden blossoms and foliage. Limbs from the tree reach upward sprouting enormous dahlias and other more imagined blossoms and leaves, some seeming to move upward, while others dangle. The boldest artistic flourish in this majestic piece is the intentionally subdued coloration of the fecund carpet’s garden, employing a pastel palette of salmon, ochre, blush, fern and pistachio green, contrasted with a deeper Mediterranean blue.
