(High-Collectible) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) Mohtasham Kashans are considered among the finest and most collectible in the world of antique Persian rugs. Known for their unbelievably fine weave and intricate designs, these rugs are a true representation of the Second Golden Age of Persian weaving. This 150-year-old tour de force presents an extravaganza of intricacy. Within its overall design, on closer observation, this carpet has two hidden horizontal bands of different depths that dazzle and make it impossible, when standing on it, to completely fathom its tile-like pattern. Rendered in exotic natural color tones, wide horizontal bands create a botanically ornate grid with rows of medallions resting on a midnight indigo base that can barely be seen. The skill of weavers who can follow such a complicated design as this rug has is legendary. An absolute delight, the masterful dye work is with a profuse array of tones, including jade green, burnished gold, chartreuse, carnelian red, coral, and cornflower blue.
