(High-Collectible-Plus) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) Mohtasham Kashans are an important offshoot of the traditional Safavid-influenced Persian floral styles using materials of uncompromising quality and employing unparalleled craftsmanship. In an exceedingly rare twist that we have never seen before, the composition of this sublimely beautiful, 175-year-old rug is a marriage of two memorable styles: the lower half featuring the beloved garden compartment format, and above an elegant vase-themed floral fantasia. The embellished vase is filled with flowers that radiate upward toward the arabesque-outlined prayer arch. Below, the twelve orderly compartments depict botanical motifs in exquisite detail, including iris clusters, rose and daisy bouquets, songbirds among blossoms, and stylized weeping willows. Sparkling jewel tones infuse each element with a joyful dimensional quality, each juxtaposed by a master of highlights and shading. Throughout, a gentle blush of celadon and pale gold infuses the background in subtly contrasting hues.
