One of the world’s best sources of antique carpets. – Financial Times
5' 3" x 9' 2" Circa 1900 Price: $15,000
In an unusually grand size for a Northwest, this folk art rug also provides an exuberant palette that will profoundly animate any passageway, foyer or meditative seating area. The butterscotch field color is unique and exceptionally atmospheric, lending a softness and richness to the sheltered, blossom filled reserve. Here, the pointed pendant medallion is simply another participant in the overall design, rather than a commanding focus. The clearly incised allover motifs are magnificently abstracted, with tendrils that resemble calligraphy as they progress along each horizontal course. Inner and outer borders in pure, luminous ivory both offer an exquisitely crafted embellishment of the serpentine border, enriched with tangerine, cobalt blue and saffron.
