(High-Collectible-Plus) (One of 70 "Best-of-Their-Type Rugs" Sold in 2025) This one-of-a-kind nomad rug was likely woven by one of the many talented maverick weavers from the perennially creative Kurdish people in the expansive wilderness territory of Northwest Persia. Descending from above on an inverted tree, a consort of gargantuan sprouting boteh seeds and feather-like trees glow against the camelhair ground in this extraordinarily unique design, the likes of which we have never seen. Fluttering below like polychrome flower petals in a spring breeze are smaller-scale, both angular and organically contoured shapes that appear at first to be freeform but are actually the result of an ingenious plan. A thoughtful, one-of-a-kind palette of mocha tones, burnished gold, terra cotta, Aegean sea green, plus midnight and lapis blues adds to the artistry and buoyancy of this piece. If you look carefully, you may notice the sparing use of luxuriant Tyrian purple, an extremely precious dye since ancient times.
