(Connoisseur-Caliber)
19th century Camelhair runners, especially when in such fabulous condition as this nearly 150-year-old piece, are treasured among Claremont clients for their chromatic warmth and evocative sense of imagination. Like their close neighbors in the Caucasus, the Persian Shahsavan tribal group were masters of geometricity and vibrant naturally dyed colors. The multi-banded boteh ’Seeds of Life’ that are sown across the field take on pomegranate-like proportions, each sizzling with the potential for life’s renewal. In expressive contrast to the warm caramel-toned ground are rarely found shades of regal aubergine, cerulean, teak, and delightful fern green on full display in the visually appealing, chevron striped main border. Within are charmingly 'aerodynamic' accent shapes in twos and threes. Still in heavier-pile condition, this piece has decades ahead gracing that special hallway.
