(Connoisseur-Caliber) This richly patterned, 150-160-year-old oversize Sultanabad carpet is distinguished by a softly glowing golden base tone and a wonderfully broad palette of exquisite hues brought to life by the high-quality 19th-century Persian craftsmanship. This refined town design displays a rhythmic, infinitely repeating stylized floral latticework, consisting of a series of minute blossom on subtle vinery, linked by smaller, artful flowerheads. A pleasing spectrum of secondary time-softened tones includes guava, Kashmir sapphire, pastel rose and lilac, and morning glory blue that glows through a strong patina, making this infinitely faceted, quite hard-to-find oversize carpet ideal for sophisticated decor.
