(“The Potomac Collection Spring 2019") Exemplifying a “shrub” pattern shared by several weaving groups, this imminent rug by far outdoes all others we have seen. Every nuance is thoughtful, endearing, and magnificently drawn. Note the irises in the field and the tea roses in the main border, for instance. Part of the evocative quality of the drawing is the exceptionally fine weave that helps express detail like the finest paint brush. Presenting a continually changing, painterly paradisiacal garden, the rug is replete with a great number of finely detailed bird forms, some roosting and others in flight.
The exquisite color palette demonstrates virtuoso dye work and highly sensitive color-blending. Through the great respect of its prior owners, this early piece is in excellent condition. Learn About This Rug Type
