(High-Collectible)
("One of “60 Best-of-Their-Type Rugs Sold in 2023") The Persian garden was symbolic of the importance of terrestrial flora and fauna while offering a glimpse into a celestial domain. In this mind-bogglingly exquisite pictorial piece, the highly venerated “Tree of Life” motif is displayed in all its magnificence, entwined with a burgeoning grapevine and replete with striking floral designs and masterful dye work. This eye-opening piece is a virtuoso composition. Its golden camel-hued backdrop tremendously heightens the animation of botanical forms that naturally sway against the dexterously applied, rippling color shifts behind the canopy. Bustling roses and myriad sparkling flower species are home to a cadre of inquisitive avian friends. Below, a pair of ornery-looking goats perhaps jealously muse why they must be content with eating scrub while the birds frolic and play in the branches above. The range of exquisite dye work shown here was masterfully brewed from hand-gathered sources from the surrounding environs. The expertly executed border is not simply a decorative frame but expands the field's select menagerie. Contented deer, leaping rabbits, and other exotic fauna gambol among the dazzling florets against a glowing coral ground. With its virtually full pile condition, there can be no doubt that it has been immensely treasured among collectors.
