(Connoisseur-Caliber) Virtually every Persian weaving region had its unique interpretation of the "Vase" design that presents blossoming botanical wonders springing from a large urn at the base of the field amidst often phantasmagorical landscapes. This 150-year-old Tehran gem aptly demonstrates the consummately sculpted detail, incredibly fine weave, and luminous wool surface that enable this virtuoso expression. A robust bouquet reaches skyward, fanning out exponentially from the opulent vessel. Two sinuous trees wend their way aloft on either side of the centerpiece, their intertwined branches blossoming beneath the archway. Enrapturing lush floral foliage leaps off the parchment-toned background, emerging from the splendidly rendered brookside trees. A stunningly vibrant painter's palette of pure natural dyes was employed with the utmost mastery in the generation before synthetic dyes began to be used. This incredibly luminous, heavier-piled art rug fully achieves a palpable sense of nature's fecundity.
