(Connoisseur-Caliber) With its breathtakingly serene palette, this deeply emotive antique carpet evokes a vast springtime meadow bursting forth with an abundance of delicately rendered blossoms surrounding a ghosted central vase. Shooting straight up from this levitating vessel is a slender fantastical tree that holds virtually concealed birds among a host of diverse botanical shapes. Ethereal, lyrically drawn flowering fronds, blooming sprigs and free floating palmettes flow outward into the pearlescent sandy field beneath the faint boundary of the arch above. Two glowing azure fringed palmettes mark the nearly translucent spandrels. Its palette of harmonious earth tones and pastels melds together in an extraordinarily light, understated, yet deeply evocable composition. The weavers' command of subtle and bold color placement and outlining technique creates a sense of advancing and receding of the design elements. Its extremely fine weave, very seldom found squarish size, and extraordinarily good condition are further welcome attributes for the discriminating connoisseur.
