(High-Collectible)
This superbly preserved mid-19th century long rug is a superb example of the antique rugs of the Kashkuli sub-tribe of the once-powerful Qashqai nomads of Southwest Persia. Its unusual column pattern requires tremendous precision to execute successfully, especially without the aid of a cartoon (a knot-by-knot schema.) The beloved Sprig and Flower design alternates across the field with three more spacious columns containing an oak leaf and almond flower meander on a crimson ground. Completing the symbolism, a four-directions and Wheel of Life flower join and repeat around the border of this exotic antique Oriental rug. In this 150-year-old tribal rug, the mastery of color equals that of design. Note the rare shades of green and teal, along with the rich turquoise and aquamarine blues.
