(High-Collectible) This genre-bending Bakshaish is an elemental masterpiece, supported by a culture that valued spontaneous, imaginative gestures while maintaining its independently developed visual canon. An astonishing level of conceptual synchronization is achieved in this room-size carpet, balancing both great spontaneity and overall harmony. Three prodigious stalks ascend the strawberry field toward the heavens while producing a concatenation of uber-stylized lilies, fruit clusters, and serrated leaves in this incredible fantasy scape. Populating the background are chains of diamonds, numerous free-floating pinwheel and cubist florets. Dextrous shifts in scale heighten the viewer’s rapt attention, frustrating any trace of tedium. Their specialty hue, 'Bakshaish Blue,' glows from the main border to silhouette a display of rosettes and oak leaves. This versatile, nearly square carpet offers a splendid glowing patina at 175 years old, yielding an entrancing visual depth.
