("New Arrivals Gallery") Of all the Caucasian styles, the Kazak tradition presents the starkest, most powerful imagery, and the Bordjalou sub-style is among the most impactful. This piece pairs potent pure color with iconic motifs drawn with ultimate precision. A tetrad of intricate hooked diamond medallions align vertically on a dreamy azure blue ground. The abrash color shifts in the field are subtle and bold, creating a flowing aquatic feeling like a stream transporting these sacred geometric mandalas to their cosmic destination. Its palette is extraordinary and crafty in its juxtapositions, with rare shades of emerald greens, fiery carnelian, and golden saffron yellow. At first glance, the outer border appears to be a deep brown. However, it is one of the darkest shades of ultra-precious Tyrian purple dye, also found in lighter hues elsewhere in the composition. Every chiseled feature stands out in this spellbinding 150-year-old rug that glows through top-grade mountain wool carefully shorn from active free-range flocks. A gentle patina of time amplifies the glow.
