("New Arrivals Gallery") Outstanding clarity and inspired artistry are the hallmarks of this visually intriguing Caucasian Marasali Shirvan gem. A marvelous kinetic joy is relayed by the infectious energy emanating from the semiotic tribal motifs here captured on a luminous carnelian ground. The field is filled with a vibrant assortment of curious motifs: elongated boteh seeds encapsulated by a rectangle of florets and an exceptionally unusual form that may represent the scorpion. As you can imagine, this respected arachnid loomed large in the minds of the descendants of nomadic people. This piece was crafted using radiant natural dyes and extraordinary wool from nearby flocks, presenting both precision and improvisation, resulting in an endearing artistic achievement. While viscerally expressive in its graphic pattern, this piece has the double distinction of possessing superb medium pile condition.
