FACHRALO KAZAK
4' 2" x 6' 6" (127 x 198cm) Circa 1850
(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") The small village of Fachralo has traditionally given its name to a number of boldly designed and brilliantly colored Kazak rugs, often with prayer niches. Its overall simplicity has a commanding presence, with a trio of latch hook ‘Wheel of Life' medallions and a joyful sprinkling of age-old tribal motifs reflecting the continuous spontaneity and impulsive creativity of the weaver. Under the arch a classic ’Star of Wisdom’ is in consort with two cloudbands, symbolic of the mythical celestial dragon and evocative of the heavenly source of all earthly existence. Magnificent Kazak colors that glow are the order of the day for Fachralo rugs with saturated hues of fiery carnelian, emerald greens, and Egyptian blue. Its rugged border suite possibly reflects this resilient people's daily terrain (simultaneously the continuation of ancient Aegean design traits). Extremely good condition and the soft patina of great age heightens the allure of this deeply desirable tribal rug, unlocking the sheen of the excellent wool quality used in this eminently collectible rug’s construction.
