(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Replete with eccentric creativity and artistic innovation, this riveting tribal rug woven by nomads living in the lush Zagros Mountains of Southwest Persia is one of the most animated and engaging Luri rugs we have ever offered, and entirely unmanipulated by commercial influences. In this uninhibited expression of their vigorous folk art tradition, a mandala of saffron gold is the centerpiece around which gather a unique assortment of human figures and animals. Pairs of secretive black panthers, fantastical azure leopards, with moss green dromedary camels and deer face off across stylized bouquets. The Luri weavers also make an appearance, perhaps to observe this astonishing scene firsthand or to establish themselves within their own art for posterity. In heavier pile condition, the rich, sonorous colors and whimsical tribal detailing make this curious, endlessly intriguing vernacular artwork a delectable treat.
