ZEJWA KUBA
4' 4" x 6' 5" (132 x 196cm) 3rd Qtr., 19th C.
(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") Authentic 150-year-old Caucasian Zejwa Kubas with their characteristic expansive sunburst medallions are very seldom seen, especially those with such luminous colors and outstanding condition for their age. Three mandalas, in all their glory, command the effulgent crimson field, their seldom-seen royal blue hues contributing to the overall effervescent aesthetic effect of this piece. Surrounding them are numerous, delightfully idiosyncratic floating ornaments such as geometric 'endless knots,’ tiny cloudbands, and a flurry of animated florets. Their artful, spontaneous placement creates a joyful sense of movement throughout the composition. Streamlined, aerodynamic peacocks can also be discovered by the careful observer. A pixellated double dragon border is enlivened by criss-crossing diagonal bands running in parallel on either side. A surefire smash hit to display as erudite wall art!
