(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") The Qashqai nomadic tribespeople of over 150 years ago, when this rug was woven, were renowned for their noble, upright posture when they visited the towns and villages along their 300-mile migration route between the summer and winter pastures for their beloved sheep. The constant change and the many obstacles and challenges they encountered along the trail honed the spirit of these nomadic peoples, instilling certainty and joie de vivre, and the weavers convey this energy in tiny, jewel-colored knots arranged in timeless geometric patterns, as in this finely etched nomadic weaving. Two hooked-diamond medallions flank the central rectangular medallion, which contains yet another hooked-diamond, in a layout that reflects the rug's overall design and thus conveys a sense of perspective. Abstractly drawn Shah Abbas palmettes are mirrored in the brilliant vermillion diamond medallions. In all the open areas, myriads of snowflake-like, tiny tribal motifs fill every available space, representing the interconnected collective of all life on the earth. The riveting clarity, alluring realms of scale, and dramatic contrasts combined with endearing asymmetries invite a lifetime of contemplation. In outstanding condition, this Connoisseur-Caliber Qashqai rug is a piece of history, sharing with us h, the tremendous creative energy and insight into life that this unique tribal culture achieved.
