(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery") This is a particularly striking example of the noted Gendje field design featuring a single axis of octagonal medallions, each displaying an individualized rendition of a highly abstracted flower head. An age-matured coral ground hosts this configuration with its striking chromatic progression from ivory to aubergine to chamomile at the center, surrounded by an artful array of spontaneous blossoms, rosettes and delightful gazelle forms. Masterfully wrought hues of turquoise, soft lavender, cerulean and peacock blues form the tertiary palette of this magical piece. Providing another layer of scale to this exceptional, extremely well-preserved rug, a dazzling ivory-based main border reveals a repeated sunburst rosette with four hanging florets.(Similar rug: Ian Bennett, Caucasian Rugs, p. 139) Learn About This Rug Type
