Late 19th Century
(High-Decorative) This incredibly innovative antique Persian Mishin Malayer presents a unique design and earth-toned color combinations which are amplified by its very fine craftsmanship. A soft rose ground surrounds a column of six singular indigo diamonds that present an abundance of hand-drawn botanical motifs. Its extensive border suite reprises its adventurous design and attention to detail, holding fluid meanders of artfully expressed fronds, rosettes and vinery. An oversize village carpet woven in a region of Persia known for its small rugs and runners, its dimensions and artistic level both suggest it was a commissioned piece for an important patron. In extremely good condition, this is a connoisseur level, antique Oriental carpet with great decorative potential. Learn About This Rug Type
