(High-Decorative) ("New Arrivals Gallery")Antique tribal rugs that are large enough to anchor a seating area are rare, as most rustic Persian weavings were created on narrowed looms. This quite well preserved Khamseh tribal rug presents three interlocking chains of hexagonal medallions filling an incredibly active reserve. In a design aptly known as “murgi” (bird), abstracted chicken motifs in different shapes, colors and postures evoke a charming pastoral scene full of life. Instead of the chemically dyed crimson reds and bright blues in the mid-to-late 20th century Persian rugs that are much more prevalent in today's market, here a welcome range of seasoned, natural dyes include rich russet, gold and sapphire blue highlight an engaging palette, including numerous lively secondary tones.
