The intricately designed patterning of this mesmerizing mid-19th century Persian rug is consummately executed, a highly collectible, quite early example of this renowned Ferahan style. Inimitably crafted revealing an unfathomable attention to detail, the composition is entirely devoted to an inconceivably petite point pattern. Here a repeating "Herati" latticework of minuscule blossoms and curling leaves create a sublime sense of much visual movement and depth. A surprisingly slender naturally dyed celadon border quietly frames the composition and gives deference to the virtuosity that lies within it. Stunning on the wall, this greater than 170-year-old Oriental carpet remains in extremely good condition and could also be comfortably enjoyed on the floor.
