(Decorative) Village weavers often adopted designs from neighboring cities and gave them a unique spin, as seen in this intriguing antique Kurd Oriental rug from the area around Bijar (Bidjar). The field uses a very traditional ‘Herati’ pattern, but drawn in a relaxed and playful way. The main border is vast in scale, allowing the 19th century Persian carpet weaver to make each palmette entirely unique. Notice the eye-catching affect of naïve simplicity in the bottom border where only one main palmette is drawn. (INQUIRE ABOUT THIS RUG AT CLAREMONT 2, 1-800-883-1815) Learn About This Rug Type
