(High-Collectible) ("Best-of-the-Best Sold in 2017") This sublime, early, oversize carpet possesses a delicacy of line and subtlety of tone reminiscent to a prized Flemish tapestry and rarely found in carpets after 1850. Presented in a magnificent array of deeply time-softened colors with fascinating detail work, a densely drawn repeated bouquet-and-urn motif intermingles with a cypress-tree-and-morning-doves design that completely blankets the field. An incredible level of intricacy, cohesion and nuance pervade this masterwork. Sensitively wrought dyeing of cranberry, celadon, numerous greens, blush and azure create an awe-inspiring palette. The cartouches of the main border contain the stanzas of a long Sufi poem. Learn About This Rug Type
