(High-Collectible)
We are very pleased to include in our offerings this High-Collectible mid-19th-century nomad rug from the Central Asian Beshir sub-tribe of the Turkoman people. Their rugs as a whole were known for a fine knotting, rich madder red field, and totemic geometric designs. Where later Turkoman carpets became quite ordered and repetitive, early pieces such as this explore infinite variations within their pattern. This rare piece has been maintained in wonderful heavier to medium pile condition. Its fluid, precisely rendered design and frequent nuance of hue greatly enhance its visual impact. Abrash abounds amid the skillful interplay of rare teal, cobalt, sapphire, royal, and sky blue hues that complement the pervasive old brick main color. Its soft pile and intact kilim ends complete this Beshir long rug’s admirable attributes of collectability.
