(Connoisseur-Caliber) (“New Acquisition Sampling") This extremely mature piece is a collectible Persian Ferahan Sarouk rug that offers the poignant artistry and quality of pieces before the Persian rug market began its worldwide expansion at the end of the 19th century. The colors are time-softened and glowing with patina, the drawing natural and showing much more nuance than later pieces. Spectacularly dyed abrash color striation creates an inimitably magical effect. Watercolor-like waves of terra cotta undulate within its striking pomegranate-shaped medallion. In the corner pieces and border details, naturally sourced colors shift in stages from pale celadon at the bottom through azure to a more dramatic cerulean at the top adding fascinating visual dimension.
