(High-Decorative) Exceptionally radiant, clear hues of spruce green, teal and aquamarine predominate in this elemental 19th century Caucasian Bordjalou Kazak arch rug. The powerful combination of bold, rare colors invigorate its archetypal tribal imagery and add to the incredible spaciousness and sense of grand scale even though this rug is quite small for this style. Here, the traditional niche format becomes an innovative floating medallion, surrounded by spectacular “abrash” (or striation within one color) that brings even more vigor and animation. The signature Bordjalou main border, often an insinuation of tribal might, in this piece continues the whimsy. Clearly drawn, elemental Wave borders flank it on either side.
