(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery")*This over-150-year-old collectible tribal rug offers many nuances that not only connect it to an earlier period in this weaving district, but also exudes a particularly inscrutable ambiance the early rugs often have seemingly saying, "You have never seen another quite like me, have you?." Its longish shape accentuates the Gendje penchant for the challenge of weaving diagonal stripes. Beautiful pairs of quartered boxes at both ends of the field add scale and balance this impressive display. The tone on tone border motif is another brilliant artistic choice, utilizing a highly stylized rendition of the "Elibelinde" or goddess motif. The rug’s use of color shimmers with saturated, aged, glowing potent apple green, burnished gold and ripe cherry red in this singular composition. Learn About This Rug Type
