From the style known as "The Iron Rug of Persia" for its renowned sturdy construction, Bijars (Bidjar) are perfect for rooms with heavy family use. Originally purchased from Claremont in the mid-1980s, this splendid 130-year-old representative was recently traded back in. We have not experienced such a fine example of the seldom-seen Guli Farang ("Foreign Flower") design, or such a beautiful one, since that time. In it, a sumptuous midnight indigo field offers luxurious, exquisite underlayment to its painstakingly rendered field that boasts a finely detailed repeating cabbage flower pattern arranged within a delicate vinery formed latticework. This rug excels in its extraordinarily fine craftsmanship, absolutely exquisite dye work and happily in its heavy pile condition which combine to make it a true standout piece.
