In an absolutely delightful and versatile small area size, this deeply folkloric rug was woven by nomadic tribespeople dwelling in the higher reaches of the rugged Caucasus Mountains. This little gem excels in its use of a field of two whimsically dissimilar overscale latch hook medallions against a backdrop of so many twinkling stars on a very seldom seen rich teal green base tone. Its traditional "Wine Glass and Oakleaf" border pattern demonstrates the tribe's wish to bring some level of refinement to the elemental circumstances in which they lived,. Preserved in extremely good condition, especially considering its use as a utilitarian item, this ingenious piece would be a deeply pleasing introduction to the magic of folkloric Caucasian rugs.
