(Connoisseur-Caliber) The Bakshaish style is renowned for startling innovation, exemplified by this mesmerizing piece with its stunning, tribal-inspired overall pattern. Like the Caucasus rugs woven to the north of the Bakshaish region, this carpet revels in hidden surprises. Within the recurring diamond motif holding an elaborate weather vane design, there is in fact no repetition to be found. The diamonds compress and expand, while the center of each ornament changes color or reveals some new nuance in the drawing. The effect of living on such a piece is highly entertaining as the element of spontaneity appears in any part you interact with. This naïve artistry is surrounded by a distinct haunting blue tone in the border that is associated only with the Bakshaish tradition. Learn About This Rug Type
