(Connoisseur-Caliber) ("New Arrivals Gallery")An inspired design of exceptional fineness elevates this highly singular 19th century Afshar tribal rug to significant heights. A deep midnight indigo ground is the backdrop for a compelling overall pattern of intricately detailed botehs (the age-old precursor to the Indian paisley motif). Each is rendered in a harmonious collection of naturally dyed hues, including Prussian blue, ivory, melon, and gold. Tiny blossoms along its lower edge provide a delightfully whimsical detail, while a delicately drawn pattern of paired botehs alternating with "Star of Wisdom" motifs in the main border further demonstrates the great prowess of its weaver.
