A mesmerizing, small-scale pattern is enlivened by especially creative ivory cornerpieces and medallion in this impressive antique Mishan Malayer oriental carpet. A densely filled ivory medallion anchors an equally detailed reserve of richly abrashed blue, then bisects it with long ivory pendants. The diamond theme is continued in the ivory corners, which connect along the full length of the field in a series of symmetrical points. Both the field and borders feature a dramatic use of abrash, culminating in a complete shift from azure to powder blue along the rug's top edge. An incredibly fine weave and excellent condition further enhance the virtuoso rug's appeal.
